Remember the post I did when I found my dad’s leather wrapped Ray-Ban sunglasses!? If not, do not fret, you can check it out here and I was very sure my dad had another pair stashed away somewhere and you know what… I was right! I knew it! This pair is not as special as the other pair, they are the basic metal rim (very heavy metal) but nevertheless the style itself is very iconic.
My dad bought both pairs at the same time from an optician in Hong Kong back in the 90’s (wow! the 90’s seems so long ago) and yep, that is correct, my dad does have a bit of a fetish for Ray-Ban sunglasses. He had about 6 pairs altogether but lost 4 of them- D’oh! In fact he is quite into all sunglasses so maybe that is where I got the love of eyewear from?
I think it is amazing that Ray-Ban have created a shape that is totally iconic in the eyewear industry. This pair of sunglasses were from the 90’s and even now season after season we are still seeing this aviator style being produced by many different eyewear brands and not forgetting fashion brands. This shape Ray-Ban created can be classed as legendary but I do wonder where was the inspiration from to create the shape? Could it be art, films? Do you know?
Either way, I am in love with them even though they are slightly heavier than the glasses now days. I wonder if my dad will notice if they have gone missing??? hehehe.
