Hardy Amies is probably well known in fashion for its tailoring, craftsmanship and its understated elegance. The eyewear range was launched few seasons back and the philosophy from the clothing range definitely continues through to the eyewear collection. During autumn/winter press day (yep in fashion we are already in A/W) I had a chance to see what to expect from the Hardy Amies eyewear collection and it sure didn’t disappoint.
The A/W 2013 collection continues on from S/S 2013 taking by the “less is more” approach with emphasis on the perfect shape The frames are compact and lightweight making them rather comfy to wear with a touch of added sophistication which is of course what you can expect from Sir Hardy Amies.
However, the most exciting design I saw from Hardy Amies is not actually the A/W winter collection but there super duper high end Standout Bradman sunglasses with only 20 available to buy world wide! Yeah, that is only 20 frames in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD so they are pretty exclusive and you will be lucky if you even get to see a pair for sale but its ok I took some photos of them so you all get to see what they look like 😉
These sunglasses were as seen on the catwalk at the Hardy Amies A/W 2013 runway show. These frames were inspired by the 1930’s retro shapes and each pair has been cut from a single piece of ultra thin, flexible stainless steel to produce a striking, super futuristic look (not so 1930’s technology).
There are other frames out there who use the same method of using one piece of metal but these Hardy Amies ones are very well designed and it really fits in with the brands philosophy. It is smart, clean cut and sophisticated. I like the fact the colours are quite understated too and yes even the nose pad area is still cut from the same piece of metal- they didnt even cheat on that tiny little detail and no wonder they only made 20. Imagine the time and effort, definitely not something I am going to start doing myself in a hurry.
I am not too sure how likely you can get your hands on a pair of those awesome sunnies but you can take a look here at their website and see, good luck! 😉
