Whilst I was away honeymooning I know I missed a few events and talking about them now seems like old news but nevertheless I am still going to blog about it because it is something I am excited about to do with eyewear/ fashion and just incase you guys missed it too. Over in the UK we are all aware of the optical chain Vision Express. I would say out of all the chains Specsavers is probably the one that everyone associates with being fashion orientated but this may be about to change.

On 13th June (I was in Vegas at this point, probably gambling) Vision Express held a fashion show with Presenter Emma Forbes and celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard in their London Oxford Street flagship store. During the fashion show guests received expert advice on how glasses can make the ultimate fashion accessory to match every outfit and occasion, from teens, twentysomethings to those aged 50 and beyond.

Using glasses as a fashion accessory has always been something I strongly believe in and something I have been pushing so it is refreshing to see fashion and eyewear professionals are sharing the same vision as me. However I am sure it is still something we need to keep educating people about as celebrity stylist Gemma rightly said…

” So many of us, including my celebrity clients, spend ages putting together a look, paying attention to shoes and bags and jewellery, and then stick on the same-old glasses. It’s a fashion crime! We need to ditch the ‘pair and a spare’ approach to glasses and experiment a bit more. Fashion should be fun, and glasses are a perfect way to make a style statement.”

In future if you want some fashion advice to do with your glasses then Vision Express maybe the place to go because they have named Emma and Gemma as the faces of fashion earlier this year, in a collaboration set to bring their style expertise right to the heart of the store experience. In addition to hosting the June fashion events, the duo will be helping train staff on fashion pointers they should offer customers.

So it looks like Vision Express maybe the destination with all the staff being trained by two very highly qualified fashionistas. However, just remember peeps…  fashion is about using your imagination, experimenting and stepping out of your comfort zone. So if your local opticians are advising you to try something different then maybe you should listen 😉
