Once again another fashion brand has decided to branch out into eyewear because lets face it, eyewear is the way forward! So which brand decided to give it a go this time…? Well its Replay and on Wednesday I attended their launch party. If you are into your jeans then you are probably aware of the brand or you could just be a fashion lover and know every brand under the sun. I think the big question here is what has this Italian denim brand got to offer us as they are breaking into eyewear in association with Specsavers?

My first impression of the glasses was yeah, great pieces, played it safe with the shapes and colours and they do tie in with the brand very nicely. The brand is quite edgy, cool with muted colours and that is exactly how the eyewear comes across to me.  I think this is important because you can’t lose the essence of the brand.  Also getting consumers to buy into the eyewear is probably a good way to introduce them to the brand.

The shape of the frames are your staple classics which in a way is what jeans are all about. Everyone has got a couple of pairs even I do!  I am not a huge denim wearer but I have got 4pairs. It a unisex range and quite a large range too at 24 pieces but of course some styles are predominately for the guys and vice versa for the girls.

The idea behind this range is supposed to be contemporary and to hopefully appeal more to teenagers which, I think it is quite a good angle to go down because I do feel many eyewear brands tend to neglect that age group.  It is a great way to introduce teenagers to the brand who may not be able to afford the denim itself.

Check out the case above, yep, thats right… even the case is denim. It is an obvious choice though for the brand and looking at all the snaps I took during the event don’t you all agree that putting glasses on the denim (or just clothes in general) make them look so much cooler and more like a fashion accessory?! It makes a nice change rather than just seeing them on racks as you do in an opticians.

So what is my verdict? Oh and I am on my own this time because my partner in crime Ben was unable to attend the event. Lets get the technical side over and done with first… Well the hinges are just your standard hinge but then again so are most high street specs so nothing exciting there. However there are some nice little details such as, the logo is very subtly done but that is my personal taste as I am not a huge fan of a massive “in your face” logo. As I have mentioned before the colours are quite muted so if you like your frames to be less vibrant then this maybe the collection for you. It is probably not for me though as I like my things to be colourful but there is a red and purple frame available (maybe for the ladies)! Finally the shape of the frames are classics so you really can’t go wrong, but there is nothing better than going into store and checking them out for yourself.

They will be available in all the Specsavers stores nationwide as of the end of October so not too long to wait!
