Over the weekend I was of course in Wales ready for my friends baby’s Christening. I was not that organised and had to do a bit of last minute panic buying for wrapping paper. I got the present all sorted but you can’t give a present without wrapping it or putting it in a gift bag at least. At 6pm on a Saturday evening, trying to find wrapping paper, the only place I can turn to really is Tesco and so there I was.

As I was searching for the perfect wrapping paper for a very special little boy, I came across a rather unusual looking gift bag. A brown gift bag that is covered in cute little black glasses in all different shapes and sizes.

Now days in shops you really can find LOTS of things that are decorated with glasses. I have spotted so many t-shirts that have an animal wearing glasses printed on it which got me thinking, why are glasses so damn cool now? Everyone wants a piece of the action. I mean why does adding a pair of glasses to an animal then printing it onto t-shirt, bags or canvas as art sell? Maybe it is just me but again, I think this little gift bag is rather cool too, such a simple idea- just some random black glasses dotted around in different positions.

This increasing use glasses for various artwork (or what ever you want to call it) is becoming more popular but what does that mean for the eyewear industry? Does that mean people now see glasses differently? Does the use of glasses in artwork help us to see glasses differently? Or do we think it is a bit overdone and you don’t actually really care? Either way, let me know your thoughts πŸ˜‰
