Back at Luxottica press day (which of course now seems like a lifetime ago) I saw Alain Mikli’s 2015 collection. Alain Mikli is one of the most well known brands within the optical industry, it is a French brand which is now under the Luxottica umbrella. Nothing really within the Alain Mikli range has caught my eye before because I feel I have seen something similar or I don’t know… just not to my taste I guess and I am sure as a glasses wearer yourself you do tend to stay loyal to certain brand or have a favourite style. Anyway, during press day the 2015 Alain Mikli collection really caught my eye, I thought it was innovative and something rather refreshing.
I was totally in love with the weaving scarf detail on the sunglasses! I think it is a nice idea and it adds a new level of interest to the frames rather than using the same old same old methods of using just metal or acetate. They are still practical without compromising on the functional aspect because the frames are made out of acetate and only the top part uses fabric so no need to worry about how durable the fabric will be because it is purely there for a decorative reasons.
The fabric “scarf” also adds a dash of bright colour to the black frames which again I feel it is a nice touch because sometimes black frames can look pretty dull. I mean they are just black but they are a safe bet because you know a black frame will go with everything. However, these Alain Mikli frames are just rather stylish. It is almost like accessorising your “little black frame” to go with an outfit you are wearing. It would be even more amazing if you could interchange them to different scarfs, maybe you can! I hope they are going to do something similar for the optical range because they would look rather awesome!
Once again they are not available until late Feb/beginning or March but keep checking back to the Alain Mikli website to see when they are due out. These have a thumbs up from MGAM!
