I am still slowly catching up with my press day findings! I am up to Luxottica which took place on November 5th. Luxottica has soooooo many brands under their belt so it would be impossible to tell you all about them in one go plus I did find some really cools stuff which I want to tell you about individually. There were many things that caught my eye during the press day but only a few of them really stood out. The first one I am going to talk about is Giorgio Armani, this brand needs no introduction as I am sure everyone has heard of them.

Obviously a lot of brands are focusing on metal frames for S/S2015 but it seems like Giorgio Armani are still busy playing around, trying out different materials and textures such as wood, fabric and matt finishings which I thought was rather interesting because they are not new techniques.

The wooden effect has been a huge trend especially for A/W2014 but the fabric trend never really stayed long yet designers keep revisiting these techniques.  All wooden frames now days are so much more advanced and use special finishing to ensure they withstand everyday wear and tear but of course using them as sunglasses will probably last even longer. Fabric however is something that makes people a bit wary, even me if I am honest. How comfy will they be? Will they rub against my skin? How durable are they? What happens if it starts raining and they get wet? All these factors run through my head when I look at a pair of fabric frames.

I agree, they do look cool but how practical they are is another matter.  I do want to know why many designers keep revisiting these. I like how Giorgio Armani used a dark denim type fabric mixing it up with different colour lenses. I think that is quite a nice touch but lets see how they get on come S/S2015 since everyone is doing metal frames.  They may stand out from the eyewear crowd, they may get lost.

These Giorgio Armani frames will not be available until end of Feb/ early March 2015 but in the meantime if you want to keep an eye on when they are landing in stores then check out SunglassHut.
