Today was definitely one of those days! Always some sort of drama before I have to leave the office to head to London but the Kirk and Kirk press day was all good and I really liked the collection. After the press day I had the most exciting and random email that I nearly wet myself and I was sure my baby was also excited for me and did a little summersault. I got asked to be on BBC radio to discuss Glasses Vs Contacts! Right up my street but more on that tomorrow’s blog post. So back to the Kirk And Kirk Vivarium and Solarium Collections, you are probably thinking why does Kirk and Kirk sound so familiar well that is because Jason Kirk the founder of Kirk Originals is the man behind them. Jason has sold the Kirk Original business and moved on to bigger and better things with his wife Karen as his business partner of Kirk And KirK.

This is the first range from Kirk And Kirk and it has taken Jason and Karen a while to get this range together because it is something rather special and pretty intricate too. I went into the press day today expecting to see maybe an echo of Kirk Originals but no, I think Jason and Karen gone one step better.

For the first collection the optical range has 8 within the range with 6 colours to choose from and for the sunglasses range there are 4 styles to choose from in 6 colours. However, my favourite thing about these frames are the very small intricate pin design right at the conner of the frame. There are different animals to choose from, from horses to lion but there are only 4 animal pin designs in either silver o gold but the silver is sterling silver and the gold is 9c gold and are all made in Britain.

The frames itself are all hand made in France and the acrylic is of course from Italy (where else?) I know they are acrylic frames but I have tired them on today during press day and had a play around with them and they are rather light, they felt pretty comfy and very sturdy too. Best off all you can pretty much design your own frame, so if you like a particular style frame but want it in blue and would like the horse animal pin then that is possible PLUS they also comes in different nose bridge size so perfect for different nose shape and size. All this will be yours in about 4-6 weeks! It is worth the wait to have your very own personalised frame. If you want to view the full collection then head to the Kirk and Kirk website because not all the stockist will have the full range to choose from but by all means pop into the shop and check them out first in person. Nothing better than playing around with a pair of frames and seeing how it feels before buying.

One final thing that is worth a mention is all the acrylic have like a metallic coating and under different light the colours will appears to be different. For an example, today I thought a frame was red but it weren’t, it was purple but under another lighting they looked brown. Baffling but yet interesting and exciting to look at. It is almost like wearing 3 different frames.
