Yesterday was my birthday and as well as that it was also the last day of London Fashion Week. As you all know I am currently 8 months pregnant so I gave this season a miss just because on a good day it is hard enough to sit comfortably for a set amount of time let alone doing a lot of standing around and trekking around Somerset House. It was certainly odd to miss out on the action but then again I had a lovely relaxing weekend with my family for Chinese New Year and with the power of the internet I was catching all the action online anyway. Obviously you cannot see every show on the schedule.  You also don’t get to see all the quirky styles from the Somerset House courtyard or feel the buzz from actually being there but it was good enough for me.

Watching all the catwalk shows that are available from the London Fashion Week website I was of course focusing on spotting eyewear and 3 designers definitely stood out.

Markus Lupfer from Day 2 of London Fashion Week

Obsoletely love the statement flower power sunnies however, I am pretty sure this will only work for sunglasses styles. I cannot imagine them looking as good in optical.

House of Holland from Day 2 of London Fashion Week

When I saw this, I was head over heels in love with the shape of them because they are rather quirky. It is taking the giant rectangular shape and revamping it a little.  As well as the specs on the catwalk I believe Henry Holland himself was also wearing some rather stylish specs when he came out and did his little walk down the catwalk after the show.

Huishan Zhang from Day 4 of London Fashion Week

Finally Huishan Zhang really caught my eye too because all the models were wearing round specs instead of the square shapes but they worked really well with the clothes. It feels like a real mix of eras blended in together. The trousers feel rather 70’s and the round glasses are rather 40’s.

There were of course many other designers who included eyewear in their catwalk show but were not available to watch via the London Fashion Week website.  I was totally gutted that Julien MacDonald didn’t feature any eyewear down the catwalk considering he launched his eyewear range not too long ago!
