Are you into polishing your nails and a spot of nail art? I for one used to be really lazy with my nails, the thought of painting them fills me with dread and stress. It may sound drastic to some but I hate how traditional nail polish takes forever to dry properly. I always used to say they fake dry because they are always dry to touch but as soon as you try to do something like pick up something or brushed them against something they smudge and it all goes a bit Pete Tong. Normally at that point I get really quite angry and I am pretty sure I may even shouted at my husband (back then boyfriend) once because he was trying to ask me something at that precise moment. Then came gel nails, god I cannot get enough of them because once they dry, they are dry and last for 2 weeks with no chipping… Wooooooo!
I love gel nails so much I have even bought my own kit from Hong Kong. I love it and have never looked back! It does take me a while to do because of all the preparation needed but it lasts 2 weeks so I cannot complain. Today I was having a real dilemma as to what colour I should go for because of course this weekend is 100% Optical so I want my nails to look pretty but I have to make sure they go with my glasses (all 3 of them for the 3 days) AND my outfits, AND my shoes. It sounds ridiculous but choosing the right nail colour to go with your glasses I think it is quite a key thing and here are my thoughts and tips on this subject.
- If you have got a black frame then dare to go bright with your nails. The brighter the better!
- Got a bright coloured frame? Go for contrasting bright colours for your nails. The best way to find contrasting colours is to use a colour wheel, whatever is on the opposite side to the frame colour then that is your contrasting colour
- If your glasses have got gems then add some bling to your nails too with gems or glitter polish
- Got a funky patterned frame? Go crazy with nail art and if you are feeling adventurous you can even draw a similar pattern on your nails!
So what do you think of the colour I went for? It did take me a while to decide because I have to take into consideration what frames I will be wearing over the weekend and the outfits too. Outfits wise all my dresses are in very neutral colours of black, white and grey. My frame choices are also rather understated in a tortoiseshell, navy blue and a silvery red and I think these bright pink glittery nails will do the trick. I’ve also added a few nails stickers to match my outfits 😉
