As Paris fashion week has come to an end it also marks the end of this seasons fashion weeks and yesterday… wow! Didn’t the Valentino show cause quite a storm and it wasn’t because of the clothes. It was because the actors from Zoolander Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson were down the catwalk as their Zoolander characters! If you haven’t seen the film, Zoolander which came out back in 2001. It is basically taking the mickey out of the fashion industry but absolutely hilarious, I am sure anyone who works in fashion can see the funny side to the film.
Yesterday during the Valentino show Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson playing their characters Derek Zoolander and Hansel took to the catwalk and basically announced there will be a Zoolander 2 coming soon, there were even rumours that some parts of the Valentino show will be featured in the film. So we better all watch this space!
So cast your mind back to London Fashion Week which ended 2 weeks ago now and on day 4 of London Fashion Week there was one major eyewear collaboration with designer Lulu Liu down the catwalk. Well known for their bespoke frames Tom Davies have designed a capsule collection of 12 frames for the fashion show and they are all inspired by the designer Lulu Liu’s use of different materials and translating that into eyewear.
The collection is made from premium acetate and pure titanium to mirror the use of silhouettes and lines iconic to the Lulu Liu designs. By layering and laminating the exact materials used within her AW15 collection. Tom Davies himself pointed out that when it comes to collaborating with fashion designers the main focus tends to be on building a strong sunglasses range but with this collaboration he managed to design some stunning optical frames that can also work as sunglasses styles.
A lot of eyewear collaborations within fashion do tend to be on sunglasses so it was rather refreshing to see an optical range has been designed especially for the catwalk. The 12 capsule pieces will be available to buy from the Tom Davies flagship store over at 54 Sloane Square, London and at selected boutiques worldwide so if you fancy a peek at the entire collection then pop down to their store, I would love to if I wasn’t 8 months pregnant. ha!
