If you love fashion then Kering is probably a familiar name to you. Kering is indeed the luxury fashion group which has some of the biggest fashion brands such as Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney under its belt and that is just to name a few. They have many, MANY more brands. For those who work within the optical industry then you are probably aware eyewear design house Safilo used to hold the licence to produce some of the Kering brands but Kering decided to take everything back in-house.
I think it is an exciting move and a bold move too. It is also nice to see a fashion house, taking back the control of their eyewear range because so often fashion brands do just licence of their name to an eyewear design and manufacturing house. At Copenhagen specs it is also the first time Kering showcasing their eyewear range since taking back the control and the collection was beautiful, eye catching and just everything we expect from a high-end fashion brand.
Kering Eyewear got so many brands under their belt so it is hard to mention every single one of them, but I will mention and add images to the ones which stood out to me. The Gucci glitter sunglasses are quite fun, plus, I am a sucker for glitter specs. There are so many stand-out Gucci glasses and I had probably picked the safest bet but I like them. Then there were the Stella McCartney chain glasses, The chain actually goes across at the top of the glasses and dangle down, I really liked them because it gave that real sexy librarian vibe. You can also take the chain off and wear it like a chain so it serves a functional and fashionable purpose.
Finally, I loved the Pomellato collection. Throughout the collection, all the styles were strong, bold and a real fashion statement piece. If you are wearing them, you want people to look at you and go wow. I loved the mixing of colours, it just gave them that extra special finishing touch. I am looking forward to seeing many more collections from Kering, now they have taken everything back to in-house.
