During Mido 2017, there were so many eyewear brands to see at the show. That show is truly a monster of a show and it is the place to be if you want to find the latest in eyewear. The show got everything from big name brands to small independents. I was focused on looking at the independent brand because I want to support them as a lot of them are a startup or just got some real cool ideas.

I will pick my top three of the show because I can just be writing forever trying to cover every single brand I saw. First one is Sener Basin, which is an Australian brand. I walked past the ever so simplicity stand and was drawn because the eyewear really spoke for themselves. The eyewear is inspired by architecture and using some of the latest technology to construct the frame together. Such as using pure aviation-grade titanium,  some of the floating lines are hand milled from NXT spacecraft technology and some are handmade from compound resin. The different style will have a different method of construction.

I really liked the simple look of the brand, it is very clever how they are constructed and I was super impressed with how sturdy they felt and how light they were. They literally felt as light as a feather and comfy to wear but then again, that is probably down to how light they are.

The range is mainly dominated by sunglasses but there was a handful of optical style too. Prices retail from £1,000 upward and yes, I know the price may be a little eye watering for most people but I think if you can afford it and want that technology plus the unique feel to your eyewear then I think to give Sener Besim a chance. I mean with that price range, you would not expect that many people walking around the street with them on so that is why I said the unique feel. I was truly impressed by the design and the technology behind them. Find out more about them here and find your nearest stockist here.
