When I say tinted lenses, what is your first reaction? 90’s? Retro? Hippy? Well, they are back in fashion once again. It is quite funny because when I was around 14 I actually remember owning my first ever pair of tinted glasses. I had two pairs in my prescription. One was purple (I love purple) and another in a reddish colour, but in a totally uncool frame shape, haha! Funnily enough, I do not have any photo evidence of me wearing them. How convenient. I will look harder in the loft next time.

So, you see, even as a teenager. I was already into my fashion, wearing tinted glasses and in summer 2017, they are back baby! Do I want another pair? Hell yes I do! To relive my teen years, but this time because I am older and wiser, and know so much more about glasses, I will choose more wisely.

Before we start getting too into the fashion side of things, I explored the whole tinted glasses thing a little further. Have you ever wondered about wearing only one colour and how that may impact your eyes? In summer 2017, it is all about wearing pastel blue, pink, green and even colours such as light yellow and red are making a comeback. However, wearing one particular colour, can that be damaging to our eyes? I investigated.

Well, overall. The answer is no. It doesn’t do any long-term damage to our eyes, but I got some advice from ABDO (the organisation which trains most of the dispensing opticians in the UK). “Wearing tinted lenses can cause some discolouration when looking at an object, but it does not cause any long-term damage to our eyes. However, always ensure when you are purchasing a pair of tinted glasses, they come with UV protection or even better, buy them from your optician”.

So, there we have it peeps, you can look on trend without worrying about our eyes. Images throughout the post are the tinted glasses which I am a huge fan of this summer. I am totally in love with the For Art’s Sake range, such a strong range for summer 2017.
