Silmo 2017 maybe all over but post-show, there is still a lot of buzz. I am sure exhibitors are exhausted, I certainly am. I wasn’t even there for the full 4 days (as I didn’t want to be away from my daughter that long).
Silmo 2017 show was an extra special show because Silmo turned 50! That’s right, Silmo reached a milestone of 50 years old and of course there were many things happening at the show to celebrate such a special occasion.
What did I think of the show? I liked it because it is a very manageable size. Not overwhelmingly big, but just a good size. Lots of eyewear to see which is of course why I was there and if you have been following me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook then you certainly know that I have been a busy bee. So, what brands stood out to me? Gosh, I did discover many brands that I have not heard of and some are newcomers to the industry. If I was to go through each and everyone, we will be here ALL day so this is how I am going to do it.
Currently, we are putting together a short video of all the brands we saw and discoveries we made at the show but this will take time to edit so please bear with us. I will pick my top 5 favourite eyewear brands to write about here on the blog so keep following the next few blog posts for more. They are not in any particular order because I liked them all for very different reasons, so stay tuned for more on that front.
I want to thank Silmo for having me at the show and invited me along to the very grand Silmo awards ceremony on Saturday night held at the Grand Palais in central Paris. It sure was a night to remember.
Finally, I want to give The Eyewear Forum a shout out too, I have been part of the team since May this year but I have never met the other bloggers as we are all based in different parts of Europe. During Silmo, I finally got to meet some of them. I felt very welcome and straight away, I felt I was part of The Eyewear Forum family. Did you see The Eyewear Forum timeline of eyewear? For the next show The Eyewear Forum (TEF) has got bigger and better things planned and in the meantime, stay tuned to see what us over at TEF will be getting up to 😉
