Grey Ant may be a familiar name to some because it started off as a fashion label.  However, back in 2008 when the recession hit, the brand decided to take a new direction and focus on eyewear because it has always been the brand’s strongest seller. During Opti I spotted them out the corner of my eye with their quirky shapes and designs so off I went to explore further.

The brand believes in using traditional methods of producing eyewear but giving each pair of frame a modern twist to turn them into modern day classics. The frames are hand made in Italy and produced in Japan in limited quantities to ensure the collection always feels fresh and to keep the highest possible standards because believe it or not. It is not just Italy that produces some quality acetate, Japan is also well known in the industry for that. So, with Grey Ant you really are getting the best of both worlds.

When I was looking at the collection, there were so many stand out pieces. I loved the elegance of using the lenses as the focus point and give the frames an almost rimless look, but adding strong and bold details to give them a modern twist. This technique was used in both the optical and sunglasses range, it does give the collection a unique stamp.
