For those of you who read my blog and work in the optical industry, I am sure you will all agree Silhouette is the market leader for rimless glasses and as for all my other readers who wear glasses I am sure you will all know Silhouette is associate with quality rimless glasses. Practically every opticians stock them across the UK, so yes it is a pretty damn successful brand!
For me I always thought Silhouette as being a bit bland and rimless eyewear in general has always reminded me of the older wearer and therefore a tad unfashionable (sorry about the stereotype), so of course I never really took much interest. As you can probably tell personally I am not that much of a rimless fan… until now!
A ray of sunshine from Silhouette
Last week I was invited along to the press preview of the new Silhouette sunglasses range and I have to say it was impressive! Before I went I was unsure about it (as I was half expecting them to be boring and dull). HOWEVER as soon as I saw them I thought to myself- WOW! They have done well to bring the brand into the 21st century and made all their sunglasses super fashionable
The Horizon range has got to be my favorite- it combines lightweight materials with style! This shield style still contains all the typical Silhouette features- no hinges, no screws and virtually weightless thanks to the High-Tec Titanium. On top of all this they are still super stylish and glamorous! I am sure even Lady Gaga wouldn’t be ashamed to be seen in them. The best thing about the Horizon range is they come in a range of cool colours from purple (shown above) to the classic grey.
As well as this super high fashion range, they also have some of the classic styles such as the aviator and to mark the Olympics taking place in London 2012, Silhouette have also brought out a range of sporty style sunglasses. All styles are indeed rimless in keeping with the Silhouette brand.
From the photo above, the sunglasses at the very top have a separate lens attached underneath and that is a clip on for us optical wearers so we can still stay stylish under the sun, but I do have to break some bad new to you all. All of the Silhouette range are glaze-able for optical wearers apart from the Horizon range because of the shield design it is undoable. 🙁 The only way to get around that is to wear contact lenses!
To finish off I am going to give you some geeky eyewear facts about the Silhouette range. The lenses for the sunglasses range contains 20 different layers to give your eyes the ultimate protection against the harmful sun rays. Like our skin it is important to protect our eyes or the sun can do some serious damage! Not nice! Not many people actually realise the sun can damage our eyes but it can! It is worth while to invest in a good pair of sunglasses!
