Have you all heard of Karen Walker? If not, I am going to give you a quick crash course on her. Basically she is a fashion designer and her signature is high casual with a love of print and colour. Coincidentally that is my kind of fashion 😉 So what could we expect from the Karen Walker eyewear range? Well whenever I see colour and print in a clothing collection I always associate it with being fun and with Karen’s second eyewear collection I certainly feel it has plenty of elements of fun.
I LOVE the campaign images, they are very quirky and unique. Baring in mind I see and read a LOT of press releases, this one definitely stood out from the crowd for me .
In the last campaign Karen used models age between 65-92 and for this season it was the complete other end of the scale by using children. Who better to continue that sense of unbridled optimism and excitement for the future! The other reason for choosing children as models is because they represent a carefree time of our lives where everything was less complicated, with a massive future ahead, full of possibilities. I am sure as we have all grown up we all wish at some point we were children again with none of the worries of paying mortgages, bills and working long hours!
Bold & Futuristic; Karen Walker Eyewear
This collection is about bold & futuristic shapes and I think using children as models makes them even bolder. They really speak volumes as to what the collection is all about. The 8 piece capsule collection brings new dimensions in the form and colour of the eyewear while staying true to the brands philosophy.
Like the Karen Walker Jewellery collection the eyewear range continues to integrate the laser-cut filigree elements (shown in the image above) whilst bringing an element of fun with graphic white and gold metal frames with metallic blue mirrored lenses which have been inspired by cartoons. Within the range they have also incorporated glass lenses in selected frames to provide the most precise and constant clarity with maximum UV protection.
I love the boldness and the “fun factor” of this collection has and it seems the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Anna Dello Russo, Katie Holmes and Alexa Chung all love Karen Walker eyewear too as they are all frequently spotted wearing them.
Karen Walker Eyewear is stocked globally in major department stores and influential fashion boutiques including Barneys New York, Saks 5th Avenue, Liberty, Harvey Nichols, Matches and Lane Crawford. This particular collection I have just been rambling on about will be in stores from September 5th 2013.
