It is the last day of London Fashion Week and it sure was a wet one. Lucky for me I was not in London to get drenched as I am still recovering from my flu and thank you for asking- I am feeling a lot better today, I can even sit at my desk and work. It fact it has been rather productive and I got cracking with LOTS of stuff!
Once again thank you to the technology that made live streaming possible so I got to watch some of the catwalk shows live. Today I was rather excited to watch the Simone Rocha show and like her father I wonder if she will ever branch out into eyewear or EVEN better do a collaboration with her dad- John Rocha. That would be a bit freaking amazing wouldn’t it? If I am really honest this season is the first time I’ve checked out her collection after meeting her during the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer Awards. She sure didn’t disappoint and I can see the similarity between her designs and her dad’s but I would say she has got more of a rocky edge with a touch of “girlieness”.
Again please excuse the quality of the photos because they were just screenshots as the show happened via live stream. Looking at her collection I can definitely see Spring/Summer 2014 will be all about patterns mixed with structured shapes so it adds a bit of an edge to garments.
During this season of London Fashion Week I have seen many, many see through fabrics being used on the catwalk so it seems like that maybe the fabric for SS14 especially when it is mixed with things like lace and crochet. Just like the outfit above- PVC with crochet sandwiched in between, quite daring, yet fun.
I hope this trend will be translated into eyewear because it will work so well! Acetate frames with crochet or even lace (which has been used before) with strong structured shapes. Sexy, sexy frames!
This is a close up of what I meant. PVC style fabric with crochet style pattern sandwiched in between. It will work so well for frame design and because the frame will be so small to make the crochet stand out you will need to design some strong, structured, bold frames- which again seems to be a SS14 trend.
There are many trends from London Fashion Week SS14 that will work so well as frame designs so lets see if that will happen. I really hope Simone Rocha will design an eyewear collection with her dad John Rocha because that would be a great combo! That is all for now but look out for the John Rocha SS14 write up along with some awesome images which I took! I know- I took some ok-ish pictures!
