Hello everyone? Have you all had a good weekend back in the UK? I am still in Hong Kong enjoying the warm weather and today I said goodbye to all my friends who are now heading back to UK- booooooo! Last night was the last chance for my friends to go shopping in a Hong Kong street market and Hong Kong is pretty famous for its night street markets. Every time I go I am always fascinated by what they are selling because everything they sell is a response to what is going on in the fashion world.
When I was back in Hong Kong in 2012 there were some market stalls selling glasses and this time there seems to be even more stalls. There are even stalls offering prescriptions glasses!!! Crazy! I have no idea how reliable they are but I thought… well it is something new. The glasses stalls always seem to be busy too and of course I had a quick look at the glasses. There were some funky glasses and even I quite fancied buying few pairs myself. I couldn’t take a really good photo because the stall owners actually charge you money per a photo taken- cheeky Hong Kong people!
As I said before glasses play a HUGE part in Hong Kong fashion. Anyone and everyone who needs or doesn’t need glasses wear them just because it is cool. I do wonder if that has a direct link to what is going on with the market stalls. Glasses are so accessible and cheap, you can buy a really cool looking pair at a standard quality for around £30!!! I am not even joking I bet you are all wondering if I am stocking up, well no just because I am unsure if the ones I like are suitable for my prescription however, if I really love a pair I will buy them 😉
Will UK ever be like Hong Kong? I am not so sure but it is two completely different cultures and societies. Only time and changing people’s attitude will help and I hope MGAM is here to help along the way.
