It was another busy day today for MGAM. The morning was spent in the office preparing our next article for fashion forecasting house WGSN. In the afternoon I was off to London for the launch of the new frames by Oakley. I am pretty sure everyone has heard of Oakley as an eyewear brand and most people like myself probably associate the brand with sports such as cycling, snowboarding, skating and all the other extreme sports for that matter.

The launch was held at the Vision Express flagship store on Oxford Circus and to mark the launch of the all new “milestone” within the Oakley family a very special guest came along to celebrate this occasion. If you are a fan of cycling then you might want to have a little scream because Mark Cavendish one of UK’s top road racing cyclists was there to talk about his passion for Oakley.

I will give you some brief information now on the all new “Milestone” range because the technology behind them is very clever and if I write it all out in one go it may be quite a hefty read. Zzzzzz. In a nutshell the Milestone range is lighter than titanium frames and I can 100% confirm that because at the event I held them both at the same time to test them out. It is actually quite shocking that these frames can weigh even less than titanium ones! The Milestone frames are not metal, they are a new type of material called NanOmatter which is basically another type of plastic.

If you have never liked plastic frames before due to their weight then I think you really should check the Milestone rangeĀ out! The lightness of them actually feels like you are wearing nothing and the design of them are not your typical Oakley sporty style. They are actually very wearable. Some may say the style of them are too boring and too classic but they are styles which can be worn with anything from smart to casual and Oakley are not trying to break the mould with innovative shapes and styles, just the technology. They just want to offer something functional and yet wearable. I have to say, today I had actually learned a lot about Oakley as a brand. I will share my new found knowledge with you all tomorrow. Currently getting the train home and very much looking forward to my bed! Night all!
