Each week I am pretty much counting down to 100% Optical and by February you will probably be sick of me talking about it. It is my job to inform you all about the latest info and why you should come if you work in the optical industy. If you are a consumer, this show has the potential to change your glasses wearing life.
For a long time the UK only had one optical show which takes place once every two years up in Birmingham and keeping in mind new styles do come out around once a year so already in the UK we are missing out on a years worth of frame styles. There are of course other optical shows which take place once a year but they are aboard so not everyone can always make it. Therefore with 100% Optical being based in London and taking place once a year everyone can benefit from it.
February 2014 was the first show and it was a success. Already the team behind the show are working with many more international brands, publications and PR to make this show bigger and better. Over the next few months there will be many more exciting announcements to come! So far the show has announced the popular fashion hub will be back for the second year running with the catwalk show (and hopefully with many other fashion related topics)- stay tuned. Then there is a brand new area called the “Innovation Arcade”.
So what is this new area? What is it about? Well, the idea is quite simple. It is dedicated to support independent and emerging designers so this is the perfect area for buyers who are looking for something a bit different for their customers. All the brands who will be showing in this area are niche and not something you will find on the high street. It is the perfect hangout spot for independent opticians and new designers to showcase their frames. Hopefully as consumers we will be the ones who benefit from this, especially if you are sick of buying from chains.
If you are one of my readers debating whether to exhibit (or just go along) then don’t think anymore, just go! You can just go in as a visitor and have a nose at the show then decide for yourself, maybe we will see you at the 2016 show and become part of the 100% Optical family. The team are super nice too, if you have any questions about the show then feel free to ask me via commenting below OR tweet me @MyGlassesAndMe. In the meantime as always have a fabulous weekend and see you back here on Monday! x
