Carrying on from yesterdays theme of my Safilo press day adventure , today I am going to talk about my other findings. Did you check out my post yesterday on OXYDO (another of Safilo brand). As I said previously Safilo manufacture and produce a lot of fashion brand frames and I think during press day Dior was my favourite! The Spring/Summer collection really stood out to me. From the optical to the sunglasses range it was all about metal, flat and round.
Throughout the entire range I was really impressed with how flat they were even down to the lenses but of course with the optical range that may not be the case because how flat the lenses stay depends on your prescription. I love the look of them, they just looked really sleek as a collection and because they are so thin they are really light. Check out the images below to see what I mean by thin.
The style above is a combination of acetate (not your ordinary acetate) mixed with metal. For Spring/Summer 2015 I am seeing a lot of thin metal used on frames which is quite a 90’s look. I hated it the first time round but this time round I am getting to like them, they are not too bad but I think that is mostly down to how they have been revamped. They have had a facelift so are more 2014/2015. Within this Dior range I think the use of thin metal is really prominent and rounded shapes are here to stay for another season- definitely O-so 90’s.
My absolute favourite from Dior have to be the Sunglasses style above. In fact I believe they were featured in the Dior catwalk back in September in Paris so it is definitely the style to watch, maybe a lot of high street copy cats will emerge. I just loved the use of the white acetate mixed with the gold metal. The combination really works and makes the frame a class above the rest. It would be even more amazing if they can design some similar styles for optical but I know that would be hard to achieve considering optical lenses are different when you take the prescription into consideration as well.
If you like what you have seen with the Dior range then you will have a little time to wait because they are Spring/Summer 2015 so the earliest they will land in our opticians will be the end of February/ March time and no prices are confirmed yet I’m afraid.
