Last year we saw a few charity crazes via social media and the most famous one was probably the ice bucket challenge. Well, to kick start 2015 100% Optical and us at MGAM want to encourage you lovely people to do something called #BLINKWINKTHINK which is to raise awareness for a charity called Fight for Sight. They are the main eye research charity in the UK.  If any of your family or friends have suffered from any eye related diseases before then the research work behind the help they received was probably done by Fight for Sight (not all of course but they are the main people behind it all).  100% Optical is the first London based annual optical show and on February 7th (which isn’t far away) they will be supporting Fight For Sight during the show and will be encouraging all exhibitors to join in this #BLINKWINKTHINK campaign.

So how does this #BLINKWINKTHINK work? It is very easy. All you need to do is take a selfie (everyone loves a selfie!) with one eye covered by what ever inspires you or whatever is closet to you that you can grab. Take a photo, upload it onto any of these social media platforms, Facebook, twitter or Instagram (or all 3 to raise more awareness) using the hashtag #BLINKWINKTHINK then we of course hope you will spread the word by nominating 3 of your buddies to join in the selfie madness. This is something fun to raise awareness but we will be ever so grateful if you could also donate at the same time. All we ask for is £3 and to donate is even easier… simply text  BWTC15 £3 to 70070. All the money raised will be going towards the vital research needed to tackle eye disease and prevent sight loss.

Here is my #BLINKWINKTHINK pic with the cat I am currently looking after for a friend. He is always sitting next to me whilst I am working. I know I said to nominate 3  buddies but I want to nominate ALL of you readers to take part because it is for a great cause! Especially now for me I will be a mum soon and reading about how some babies are born with certain types of eye disease (or even worse blind) sends a shiver down my spine. One of my friends also had an accident before and would have lost his sight if it wasn’t for the vital research.  This is why I truly believe Fight for Sight is doing a fantastic job and you just never know when you may need their help.
