As you can probably guess, this post is about Jai Kudo Honeycomb Lenses but before I get into it, as an optical wearer, how much do you know about lenses in general?
I think it is probably fair to say most optical wearers (myself included before I started blogging) know very little about lenses. However, if you think about it more carefully, they are actually one of the most important components to a pair of glasses for any optical wearer.
Lets face it, we cannot see without them. so maybe it is about time we all take more notice of them.
Over the past few months I have accumulated quite a few pairs of glasses and they all needed glazing to my prescription. Jai Kudo Lenses very kindly offered to glaze all my 5 frames (and one for my husband) because they have some new lens which they would like me to try out. I thought why not.
What exactly are Jai Kudo Honeycomb Lenses?
The new honeycomb lenses use a patented technology where the honeycomb mesh is applied through a complex coating procedure. Don’t worry, the lenses do look completely normal. During normal wear you wouldn’t even know the pattern is there.
However, under certain light and at an angle, if you are holding the lenses just right, you can see the pattern very faintly.
So, why are these honeycomb lenses so good?
The honeycomb pattern helps to filters oblique rays of light in order to encourage perpendicular rays of light to pass through the lens then onto the retina. The result is reduction of glare, distortion and avoids over working the cornea and interior lens to give better clarity for the wearer.
My take on the lenses
I have got so many different types of lenses in my glasses collection I am in a good place to be able to do a comparison so here it goes.
After wearing them over a period of time, I kept taking them off and putting my others on to compare. Can I see the difference, yes. Watching the telly I can see the honeycomb lenses are shaper and things in general just felt more crisp. It is hard to explain and for sure something you need to try out for yourself.
My husbands view
Since the Jai Kudo Honeycomb Lenses are ideal for computer use they were a good choice for him. Since my husband is literally glued to the computer for his job so he did ask for blue light reduction coating too. He has said they work wonders for his eyes, has stopped getting headaches and his eyes are less tired after a long day in front of the computer. He raves about them. So, if you sit in front of a computer for long periods, give them a try!
As well as the benefits I mentioned above, there are also other additional perks. These include protection against UVA and UVB rays up to 400 nanometres, Hydro+ coating of optimum clarity, scratch resistance, easy clean, anti-reflective and super-hydrophobic.
All of these are designed to make your eyes feel at ease during wear. If you ask me, scratch resistance and easy clean coatings are always welcomed to combat the issues you get with everyday wear.
Next time you see your opticians, don’t forget to ask them who supplies their lenses. Also question them on what lenses they will be putting into your glasses. Why not even suggest they try Jai Kudo Honeycomb Lenses.
