On Thursday night I had the pleasure of being invited to the store launch of IZIPIZI. I gladly accepted the invitation and left mummy duties behind for one evening. So, who are they?

What is IZIPIZI?

I first came across the brand a few years back when I was having a browse in Selfridges. I remember thinking, well these are cool looking reading glasses with nice branding and cool packaging.

Let’s face it, I personally have never come across nice or cool looking reading glasses before. They always just look the same and always look very sad sitting on the shelves. Not usually the most inviting glasses I’d say.  IZIPIZI were the first to make me do a double take.

Why create IZIPIZI?

I was chatting to Charles, one of the founders of the brand. The inspiration started when his mum could not find any nice reading glasses. He then wanted to create a solution to the problem. There are 2 other founders and none of them had any background in optical, their backgrounds are in engineering or design.

What do they make?

The brand was born in 2010, from reading glasses, the range has now expanded to sunglasses, blue light filtered glasses and even to ski goggles. Over the years the brand has evolved, IZIPIZI now put their design focus on family. What that mean is, they create cool, affordable and stylish eyewear for everyone in the family. From baby sunglasses to blue light filtered glasses for juniors who may like to use smart devices. Then of course reading glasses for the older members of the family. You can kit out your whole family in IZIPIZI without breaking the bank.

How much do they cost?

Everything within the IZIPIZI range is affordable and you are getting a good quality pair of glasses. The collection starts from £25 onwards. Special editions of adult sunglasses will cost a bit more, starting from £60. Otherwise most of the adult sunglasses start from £35 and don’t cost more than £50. Reading glasses starting from £30 and blue light filtered glasses starting from £35 for juniors and £40 for adults.

Do you see what I mean now that you can kit out a family of four with IZIPIZI and it will not cost you the earth. Their first ever stand alone store is now open in London, on Carnaby street. Go and check them out, otherwise they are stocked in Selfridges and other retailers worldwide. If all else fails, there is always online shopping.
