Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of being invited to the very exclusive launch of the new Boots Covent Garden concept store. I was there to check out the new Optician section and to check out what ranges they’ve got in this new concept store.

I was really excited to see this because believe it or not, I have been a Boots Opticians customer since I was 12 years old. My mum goes there so as a 12-year-old, you would just go where your parents go. I have to admit since I started doing the blog 8 years ago, I have had the pleasure of getting my eyes tested in some really cool places and I get gifted with glasses left, right and centre. However, before then, I always had my eyes tested at Boots but I have only ever purchased 1 pair of glasses from Boots, my first ever pair of glasses!

But why? Why have I only purchased one pair all this time? Well, to be honest, I never found the glasses that inspiring. I didn’t have any desire to wear any of them,  plus they never fitted my nose so I always used to end up buying my glasses from Hong Kong because they have Asian nose fittings.

So, back to the Boots concept store and what I thought of the optician’s area. The entire store was immaculate. They’ve refreshed the layout and it was one massive store. The optician’s area felt modern, a very open and welcoming space. Very much not what I am used to as a Boots Opticians customer.

The brands they stock is not too dissimilar to what is available now, but they will be refreshing their stock a lot more frequently which is something they have lacked in. On top of that, they have introduced some new brands.  At the moment Catch London is the brand that will be exclusive to the Boots Covent Garden store. The Chloe range is also looks mighty strong and Reykjavik Eyes is now also available at the Covent Garden store.

However, the one thing which I was the most excited about was them introducing something called the “Trend” range. It is Boots own range and the concept is quite simple. They keep limited stock on a handful of styles and once they are sold out, they are gone for good. Then they will introduce another style so the Trend range will always be updated and in line with fashion trends. I LOVE that idea so much because it is a great way to keep it current. Well done Boots Opticians! I hope to see more changes coming in the near future, especially in my local store.
