MyGlassesAndMe has an exciting announcement to make. We will be working with the Hong Kong International Optical fair 2019 organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
When is it?
The show will be held at the Hong Kong convention and exhibition Centre from 6th-8th November 2019. It is the 27th edition and the show is expecting to welcome around 800 exhibitors from all over the world.
Me, as the founder of MGAM, I was born and raised in Hong Kong up until the age of 8. I feel privileged to be working with an optical show from my home city. I will be there myself from 6th-8th November 2019 reporting on the show and checking out as much eyewear as I possibly can. So be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using the handle @MyGlassesAndMe
What can you expect to see from the show in 2019?
First up we have the group pavilion representing France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Visionaries of Style (VOS) as well as the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA). The Mainland China pavilion will gather exhibitors from Yingtan of Jiangxi Province, Danyang of Jiangsu Province, Mayu of Zhejiang Province and Chongqing.
Then we have the highlighted brand name gallery. This area will contain an estimated 200 well known eyewear brands from around the world. New exhibiting brands include Absolute Vintage Eyewear (Hong Kong), NANOVISTA (Spain), PUGNALE (Italy) and many more. Also expect to see the likes of Etnia Barcelona (Spain), Markus-t (Germany), Matsuda (Japan), Minima (France), Savile Row (UK) and Stepper (Germany).
Personally, in this area I am extremely excited to see local Hong Kong brands such as Bestwork Eyewear, BIG HORN, and HACHILL. I have heard of HACHILL and saw their eyewear when I was visiting Hong Kong last year.
Then finally, I think the bit I am the most excited about… an eyewear competition for local Hong Kong eyewear design talents. HKTDC joins hands with HKOMA to organise the 21st Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition.
The competition has successfully attracted close to 100 entries under the theme of “MUSE”. The result will be announced at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair Press Conference on 18th Oct 2019. Designs by the finalists will be displayed in Hall 1D during the fair to showcase Hong Kong’s unique creativity to international buyers.
I cannot wait to see all of the Asian brands from this show because I don’t feel I see enough of them at the European shows. I am also really keen to bring you guys some of my exciting eyewear finds from that side of the world. Whenever I go to Hong Kong. I find the eyewear so different, cool and daring. I will have more news to announce soon. Stay tuned!
In the meantime if you are thinking about visiting the show yourself then don’t forget to register now. If you see me at the show, don’t forget to say hi.
