Fashion month is over. Every season fashion week always kicks off in New York then it is London, Milan and finally, Paris. Even though I don’t work in fashion anymore I am still forever looking at catwalk highlights. It is always a good way to look at next season trends and a lot of brands now do put emphasis on eyewear and work with various eyewear brands to complete the looks for the catwalk.
Besides the catwalk, another thing I like to look at is the street style trends. What are the fashionistas wearing during fashion week? It is always a bit of a giveaway as to what will be trending on the street. For Milan Fashion week, Russian fashion eyewear magazine Eyerepublic has very kindly shared with us some of their street style images from MFW by photographer Artem Ionov.
What were the trends on the street? Going through the images, I think there are three prominent trends. They are new age catseye, saucer shade and the rectangular.
New Age Catseye Eyewear Trend
Catseye with a make over. The main body of the shape is breaking away from the traditional but it is still keeping that slight point at the top corners.
Saucer Shades Eyewear Trend
Think 70’s, think big, probably big enough to hold your cuppa. Coming in different shapes, normally the saucer shade will come with thick rims for ultimate impact.
The Rectangular Eyewear Trend
Finally, we have the rectangular. The name is pretty self explanatory. Sunglasses in a larger rectangular shape, either rounded off for a softer look or strong lines for a bolder look.
Which trend will you be rocking in 2020? I think I’d like to give the saucer a try 😉
