As MGAM is expanding the blog for 2020, I thought I would start to add some industry news to the MGAM Recommends section. Just anything that I find interesting and feel I should share about the optical industry.

Mondottica was founded by Michael Jardine two decades ago and the company has been growing from strength to strength. However, Michael has now stepped down from his role as the CEO and the company’s CCO Tony Pessok (who joined Mondottica earlier last year) was named as his successor.

Michael will continue as a substantial share holder and member of the board of directors with the title of Founder and Honorary Chairman. He will also continue to work from his office at Mondottica HQ in Hong Kong.

I am personally excited to hear Michael and his wife, Lene Hoegh, will be spending the coming year focusing on their new adventure, establishing a consultancy focused on the environment and sustainability, as it relates to the global eyewear industry. In Michael’s own words…

“Our planet needs help and every industry needs to undergo radical change if we are to ensure a sustainable future for coming generations. Our remaining time in the optical industry will be spent helping our company and the industry at large, to learn to help and not harm the planet we call Home.”
