Does the title of this blog post sound like something you have encountered? Yes? Well I may have the solution for you.

Personally, I have never experienced it as my worst eye is only at -4.50 which at times feels bad enough when you need to pick glasses but getting thinner lenses are certainly the answer. I have two good friends with very high prescriptions and they both told me numerous times about their struggles of finding glasses. I totally get it, not that I have the same problem but I understand from my knowledge in the field. They said to me no matter which opticians they visit, they may only end up with one or two frames that are able to take a very thick lens.

The struggle is very real. To find a frame that can do the job of taking very high prescription lenses and for them to fit their face properly is incredibly difficult. Bearing in mind, one of my friends needs Asian fit frames, so from thousands of frames to choose from, suddenly her options may be narrowed right down to not even three frames. I know it may sound totally ridiculous but for people with high prescriptions, this is a very real problem. Catering for high prescriptions is actually quite a specialist thing.

Enter MINUS Eyewear – Glasses designed for high prescriptions

The founder of MINUS Charlotte Dickinson discovered from her journey as an optical wearer from a young age and needing a strong prescription. MINUS was born from Charlotte’s own experience of trying to find stylish eyewear that is suitable for high prescription and by the way, which is basically non-existent. Even my friends told me that.

When Charlotte got in touch with me I was interested in her project straight away because yeah, I totally see the need. She was also very friendly, not rude at all and I like supporting interesting, passionate, courteous start-ups.

Basically, if you have a strong prescription, struggle to find stylish glasses and do not get on with contact lenses then may I suggest, you need to check out MINUS. Charlotte has teamed up with a frame designer Charlie Ingham to bring this collection to life while still doing her full time job to fund this business. At the moment the collection is small and Charlotte has a lot of goals she would like to achieve with MINUS, such as bringing out different fittings for different face shapes.

Personally, I am all for supporting Charlotte because I like entrepreneurs like her especially when they have a strong passion for what they do. Like myself, Charlotte is starting with no previous experience in the optical industry but she is doing it because it is something she feels strongly about, just like I did almost 10 years ago.

Check out MINUS over at their website and you can also support them via crowdfunding. All information is available at the website. One final thing from me, I think the price point is also very reasonable considering it is a very specialist thing. Check them out and please support them if you understand the struggle.
