The Prelude: Mido 2024 Made in Italy Event

My MIDO 2024 adventure kicked off a day before the official opening with an exclusive event named “Made in Italy.” This special gathering is a celebration of authentic Italian brands, providing a unique platform to explore the rich narratives and innovative products that define Italian craftsmanship. “Made in Italy” not only offered a deep dive into Italy’s eyewear scene but also served as a vibrant start to my MIDO experience, allowing me to discover and connect with a variety of brands in a more personal setting.

Discovering Hidden Gems at Mido 2024

MIDO can feel like a big maze full of amazing brands and it’s easy to unintentionally walk right past something amazing without even realising it. That’s what makes attending the Made in Italy event so incredible; you have the opportunity to discover brands that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Now, let me tell you about my absolute favourite three brands from the Mido Made in Italy event..

Favourite Finds from Made in Italy Event

Kindani: Drawing inspiration from the majestic elephant, Kindani’s 2024 collection marries nature with fashion. The incorporation of real pressed leaves and flowers within acetate sheets offers an enchanting aesthetic, making each frame a piece of wearable art.

O.six and IGreen Custom: This brand revolutionises the eyewear shopping experience with its customisable frames. Customers can specify their frame size and select colours from an extensive palette, combining personalisation with affordability—a truly remarkable service in today’s eyewear market.

BustOut: While not new to the scene, BustOut’s innovative frame design allows wearers to switch up their style with a simple twist of the temple. This “2-in-1” concept is executed with impeccable craftsmanship, highlighting the brand’s understanding of fit and fashion. Unlike another brand I have seen where the fit is not quite right because it was not designed by an eyewear designer.

Two Days at MIDO 2024: A Whirlwind of Innovation

Despite being able to attend only two days of MIDO due to mummy duties, my experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The challenge of selecting my top three brands from the main event speaks volumes about the quality and diversity on display in Mido.

Gazusa: Merging the worlds of textiles and eyewear, Gazusa introduces frames crafted from treated, durable thread. The result is a stunning 3D effect that brings a new dimension to eyewear design, particularly suited for sunglasses.

Vanni: Known for producing its own acetate, Vanni’s 2024 collection showcases mosaic-style acetate design that blend colours seamlessly. Each piece is unique, offering a personal touch to those who wear them.

Kromeyewear: The temple design of Kromeyewear frames is a masterpiece, combining intricate details with lightweight construction. Wearing these frames is like wearing exquisite jewellery on your face and definitely wear with hair up so everyone can see the beautiful temple.
