Milano, 13 February 2025 – Business, innovation, trends, sustainability, and inclusion took center stage at MIDO 2025, the international eyewear show that concluded on Monday. The event saw a significant 9% increase in attendance compared to the previous year, with substantial growth across various regions.

Record-Breaking Attendance and Global Representation

MIDO 2025 welcomed over 42,000 attendees from 168 countries and 1,200 exhibitors, including approximately 930 international exhibitors, spread across eight exhibit areas in seven pavilions. This impressive turnout underscores MIDO’s position as a leading global hub for the eyewear industry.
The show experienced significant growth in attendance from Europe (+9%), particularly Germany (+32%) and neighboring countries, including Eastern Europe. Remarkable growth was also seen from Africa (+10%), driven by Mediterranean countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. South America (+20%) also saw increased participation, with attendees from Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela. The Middle East (+9%) also contributed to the success with notable increases from the UAE (+11%) and Israel (+40%). North American attendance remained steady.

In addition to visitors, MIDO 2025 saw over 16,000 exhibitor attendees, including stand staff, company employees, agents, representatives, and distributors, further highlighting the show’s importance within the industry.

A Hub for Business, Networking, and Innovation

“This edition was all about business, networking, and fresh ideas,” commented Lorraine Berton, President of MIDO and ANFAO (Italian Optical Manufacturers Association). “The energy was palpable throughout the three days, with a real buzz among exhibitors, buyers, opticians, and all participating industry professionals. We focused on creating opportunities for connection, idea exchange, and growth through business, training, and insightful talks with leading Italian and international speakers. MIDO 2025 truly made an impact, reinforcing the strong sense of community and shared passion for the future of eyewear.”

Extensive Media Coverage and Digital Engagement

MIDO 2025 garnered extensive media coverage across newspapers, TV, radio, and social media worldwide. Over 500 accredited journalists (+25% vs. 2024) were present, and the event’s main social media channels saw over 300,000 user interactions (+20% vs. 2024). MIDO-generated content achieved over 3 million views (+50% vs. 2024), and social media follower counts increased, with Instagram seeing a 12% rise. The MIDO website received nearly 35,000 visits, with the interactive app map and exhibitor search function being the most popular tools among attendees.

Government Support and High-Profile Guests

The presence of the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, along with other government representatives, reaffirmed the importance of MIDO and Made in Italy to the national economy. The support of ITA (Italian Trade Agency) was instrumental in inviting nearly 200 buyers and journalists from 55 countries. MIDO also attracted numerous celebrity guests, including Pierfrancesco Favino, Alessandro Del Piero, Domenico Dolce, Alessandro Costacurta, and Luis Figo, adding to the event’s prestige.

Advancing Inclusion and Recognising Excellence

Inclusion was a key theme, with the presentation of initial findings from the Diversity & Inclusion project promoted by ANFAO. This initiative aims to raise awareness and foster a more inclusive culture within the industry. ANFAO and Milya organized on-site labs focused on strengthening inclusivity.
