Summer is firmly here once again in the UK , and while we all love soaking up the sun (remember the SPF), the heat and humidity can make wearing makeup with glasses a bit of a challenge, the nose area is a nightmare for me – the struggle is real! But don’t worry – MGAM’s got you covered with the best glasses-friendly summer makeup hacks to keep you looking fresh, flawless, and totally smudge-free.
1. Prep Like a Pro: The Summer Base
Before you reach for your foundation, start with a mattifying moisturiser or oil-free primer. This helps control shine and keeps your makeup from sliding where your glasses touch your skin (especially the nose and temples). For extra staying power, lightly dust a translucent powder over areas where your frames sit.
Top Tip: Use a lightweight, non-creasing concealer under the eyes to avoid product settling into fine lines or being magnified by your lenses.
2. Foundation Fixes: No More Nose Marks
One of the biggest complaints from glasses wearers is foundation coming off on the nose pads. To help prevent this:
- Apply foundation sparingly on the bridge of your nose.
- Use a long-wear or transfer-proof formula.
- Set with a setting spray or powder for extra grip.
If you want to go ultra-minimal, try skipping foundation on the nose altogether – just use a bit of concealer where needed!
3. Eye Makeup That Pops (and Lasts!)
Glasses can sometimes cast shadows or make eyes look smaller, so a little extra attention here goes a long way:
- Stick to liquid or cream eyeshadows—they’re less likely to flake or crease under your frames.
- Avoid heavy shimmer or glitter, as lenses can amplify sparkle (unless you love that disco vibe!).
- Curl your lashes and use a waterproof mascara to keep them from smudging on your lenses.
Define your eyes with a thin line of eyeliner just above the lash line (not on the waterline) to make eyes appear bigger and brighter.
4. Brows and Balance
Frames naturally draw focus to your brows, so keep them tidy and lightly filled in for structure – no need to go overboard. A soft powder or pencil works best for a natural look.
5. Blush, Bronzer, and Brightness
Don’t forget to add colour back into your face! Glasses can sometimes “flatten” your features, so a pop of blush or bronzer ( my absolute go to) on the cheeks brings back warmth and dimension. Cream blushes are especially great for summer – they blend easily and look super fresh.
6. Lips That Shine (But Don’t Compete)
With all the attention on your eyes and frames, keep lips simple and hydrated. Go for a tinted balm or sheer gloss for a summery, effortless look.
7. Setting It All: Lock It Down
Finish with a setting spray to help everything stay put, even during the hottest days. If your glasses still slip, try dabbing a bit of eyeshadow primer or translucent powder on the bridge of your nose before putting them on.
