As MGAM (My Glasses And Me) is stepping into its 15th birthday real soon, it feels like it is the right time to make some changes because change is a good thing. MGAM started as an eyewear blog where I talk about my experience as a glasses wearer. It then envolved into something more where my readers would ask me for advice and industry people started to take notice of what I am writing.

MGAM has given me so many opportunities to work with different eyewear brands, optical shows, different areas of the optical sector and write for different industry magazines as a freelancer.

After learning all different areas of the sector and gained experience with writing now, MGAM is an independent digital eyewear magazine covering eyewear style, eye health, eye care, eye beauty and of course the optical world. As MGAM has grown, it has become clear that it is serving two different audiences.

  • Eyewear lovers and everyday glasses wearers looking for trends, styling tips, eyehealth and practical eye-care advice
  • Independent opticians and optical professionals looking for industry insight, launches, trade show coverage, whats next in eyewear and maybe some tips on what consumers are asking

So, MGAM is now split into two dedicated spaces designed to make it easier for you to find the content that’s most relevant to you. Do not worry; as visitors to the site, you will not notice any difference, and there will be no disruption or annoying redirection.

1) MGAM Consumer (the original MGAM)

Website: www.myglassesandme.co.uk

This is the MGAM you know and love consumer-facing eyewear and eye health content.

If you want to find out more on:

  • Eyewear trends and new-season frame inspiration
  • Glasses styling tips (what suits your face shape, how to wear bold frames, colour trends, etc.)
  • Sunglasses edits and trend round-ups
  • Eye health and vision advice (in a practical, easy-to-read way)
  • Brand highlights, launches and whats worth knowing in the world of eyewear

Then you’re in the right place.

2) MGAM Industry (for independent opticians + the optical industry)

Website: industry.myglassesandme.co.uk

MGAM Industry is the new home for trade and professional optical content created for people working in eyewear, with a particular focus on independent opticians.

If you’re an:

  • Independent optician
  • Dispensing optician
  • Optical practice owner
  • Optical retailer
  • Eyewear brand or supplier

Then this is for you.

You can expect:

  • Optical industry news and insights
  • Independent optician-focused features (practical, relevant, and easy to share with your team)
  • Eyewear trade show coverage (including MIDO, and more)
  • New eyewear launches and collections (with a professional lens)
  • Trends and innovations shaping the optical sector, including smart eyewear and tech of course

Why the split? In short, it is for clarity.

Splitting MGAM into Consumer and Industry means:

  • You’ll get content that’s more relevant to you
  • Its easier to browse and easier for you to share with the right people
  • It helps MGAM better support the optical community and eyewear consumers without mixing messages. We don’t want to confuse anyone.

Which one should you read? If you’re not sure where you fit, here’s the quick guide:

  • Read MGAM Consumer if you’re shopping for glasses, love eyewear trends, want styling tips, or want eye health, eyecare content.
  • Read MGAM Industry if you’re an independent optician, dispensing optician, practice owner, optical retailer, or you work for an eyewear brand/supplier.

If you’ve been reading MGAM for a while, thank you! Really, from the bottom of my heart – THANK YOU! Your support is what made this next step possible and helping the magazine to envolve to the next stage. It is growing up!

Here are the links again:

MGAM Consumer: www.myglassesandme.co.uk

MGAM Industry: industry.myglassesandme.co.uk

If you know an independent optician or anyone working in optics who would find the Industry edition useful, I would be so grateful if you could share the MGAM Industry link with them.

A quick note for independent opticians and eyewear brands. If you’re an independent optician, supplier or eyewear brand and you’d like to:

  • suggest topics you want covered
  • share news or launches
  • explore partnerships and features

Please get in touch via the contact page on the site. I am always interested in hearing from you.

I have always taken pride in the fact that I have kept advertising in MGAM to the absolute minimum. I have always been strict about who can guest write, what links are allowed, who can advertise because I want to be as none-bias as possible and still sticking to the fact I will only cover and write about things that I believe in, I love and care about. If you wish to support MGAM so, I can keep it as none commercial as possible, you can buy me a coffee here.

Thank you for being here and supporting MGAM for the past 15 years and this split is about making the experience better for everyone.

Whether you’re here for eyewear style, glasses trends, and eye health, or you’re here for optical industry insight and content for independent opticians, I’m so glad you’ve found MGAM independent eyewear magazine.

See you on the site.
